Originally issued by Aurora in 1966, Godzilla's Go-Cart was one of those grail model kits that it looked like would never be reissued. In 1999 the kit was reissued by Polar Lights under the sanitized title, The Go Cart. Apparently, Sony (who at the time was responsible for licensing) didn't like that, and sent them a C&D.
Flash forward to 2021, and it appears that Polar Lights finally resolved any licensing issues allowing them to release Godzilla's Go Cart. The other Universal Monster 'hot-rod' kits from Aurora never did much for me, but the Godzilla did catch my eye, and so when it was finally available again, I had to have one. I've since picked up a reissue of King Kong's Thronester kit, which seemed like the ideal pairing.
I haven't yet built either kit, but they are both high on my list (out of the stacks of unbuilt kits in my collection!).
Check back next week for another item from my Godzilla collection!
